Banbridge, Killough, Ballygawley and Cushendall have been announced by Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta (Irish-medium Education Body) as its recommended areas for the establishment of new Irish-medium pre-schools.  Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta welcomed members from the newly founded IM pre-school founding committees during the launch of Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta’s new marketing material in Cultúrlann Mac Adaim Ó Fiaich on Saturday 03.10.09.  The timing of this announcement coincided perfectly with the launch of Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta’s new DVD, new website (www.comhairle.org) and its new Establishing an Irish-medium Pre-school Guidance Booklet as all of these new materials will assist the new naíscoil (IM pre-school) committees to establish their naíscoileanna by September 2010.

Mr. Caoimhín Ó Peatáin, Chairperson of Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta (CnaG) whilst launching Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta’s new marketing material including a new DVD which provides information for parents interested in educating their children through Irish, a new website and an booklet which gives guidance to Irish-medium pre-school founding committees stated that, “the launch of this marketing material will make information on Irish-medium Education more accessible for parents and teachers alike”.  He further stated that, “this marketing material will greatly assist all naíscoil founding committees, both old and new, in establishing and running their naíscoileanna through providing practical advice and guidance”.

At the CnaG’s marketing launch Dr. Micheál Ó Duibh (Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta) announced Banbridge, Killough, Ballygawley and Cushendall as the four areas which are recommended by Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta to go forward to establish IM pre-school in September 2010 where he formally introduced the committee members of the new IM pre-school committees.

Dr Micheál Ó Duibh stated that, “Banbridge, Killough, Ballygawley and Cushendall were the areas which showed the greatest demand for Irish-medium education out of the feasibility studies which has been carried out in 21 areas throughout the North in the Spring of 2009 by Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta”.  He further stated that, “These areas are examples of the continuous growth in the Irish-medium sector and that the communities in these areas are joining a sector where over 40,000 children are educated through Irish”.

Dr. Ó Duibh congratulated the newly founded Irish-medium Pre-school founding committees from Banbridge, Killough, Ballygawley and Cushendall and said that Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta is looking forward to both supporting these committees and to the opening of the new naíscoileanna in September 2010.
